At Sheltering Arms, we want to help you do the things you love to do, including going on vacation!
Through the accessible travel program, Recreation Therapists work with a local travel agency to organize and plan accessible trips. The therapists use their expertise to anticipate and accommodate issues that may arise when traveling with a disability, from transportation to dining and excursions, so that you can relax and enjoy a stress-free travel experience.

The Sheltering Arms Accessible Travel Group was born of a desire to allow those who cope daily with physical limitations and barriers to experience the excitement and thrill of traveling. Over the past 24 years we have traveled to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, the Bahamas and several day trips to historic and scenic areas within our own state of Virginia. We have traveled by bus, by plane and by cruise ship.

Benefits of participating in the Accessible Travel Group:

    • Experience different cultures and customs
    • Socialize with others
    • Overcome barriers
    • Get our of your comfort zone
    • Have FUN!!
